Pacific Rim National Park is located on the west coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. It includes some of the most beautiful, easily accessible, Pacific Ocean beaches in Canada.
Favourite Campground: The Schooner Cove walk-in campground which used to be our favourite is no longer available for camping. The next best thing is a Parks Canada campground called Green Point, but normally there is a one or two-day waiting list to get in.
Location: Green Point - about 20km south of Tofino on highway 4.
Size: 94 sites (Green Point)
Activities: Due to its somewhat remote location, Pacific Rim seems to attract fewer visitors than one might expect for such a beautiful piece of unspoiled coastline. Consequently, it is a great place to relax - it is not difficult to find a secluded place on the beach. There is a great variety of beach types at the Pacific - sand, cliffs, rocks, beach logs and everything in between - to make for very enjoyable and interesting beach hikes. You can also enjoy many boardwalks through the rainforest. Sunrise and sunset are spectacular. Marine-life-watching tours are also available in Ucluelet and Tofino. For the more adventurous, the famous West Coast Trail offers a 60km, 5-day (typically) beach hike (book in advance, or you may have to wait a few days).
